Forget the Rankings
Not Your Average College Search
Created by school counselors and licensed therapists, Forget the Rankings helps you hit reset on the college process. It starts with a card sort that helps students name their core values, then connects those values to a curated list of aligned colleges. The result? Clearer direction, more meaningful lists, and
conversations that actually matter.
It changes the tone of your college meetings. Parents take a breath. Students lean in. The stress softens, and the purpose comes through. You also get access to a full resource library with activities, guides, and tools that support your work without adding to your plate.
Forget the Rankings isn’t just a tool. It’s a new way to start the conversation, one that puts students back at the center where they belong.
Pathways Forward
College isn’t the only way forward. Let’s make the next step mean something.
Pathways Forward is a values-based tool for students exploring what’s next beyond the four-year college path. Whether they’re considering trade school, a two-year program, or going straight to work, it helps students name what matters and connect those values to real options. Each value links to aligned job ideas, certificate programs, and two-year training paths. It’s a practical, hopeful way to explore life after high school.
Pathways Forward works well in post-high school planning meetings, small group settings, and counselor or special education classroom lessons.
Instead of asking "What do you want to do?" Pathways Forward invites students to ask "What kind of life do I want to build?" and gives them the tools to start building it.
How Does It Work
Start with values. End with clarity.
Forget the Rankings and Pathways Forward are hands-on tools that help students figure out what really matters to them before jumping into colleges, careers, or programs.
It starts with a card sort that helps students identify their core values. From there, they explore a custom database tailored to those values. Forget the Rankings connects students to aligned colleges. Pathways Forward connects them to jobs, training programs, and two-year options that reflect who they are and what they care about.
The process invites deeper reflection, more student voice, and stronger connections between identity and opportunity. It’s supported by ready-to-use materials that help you turn these insights into real conversations and meaningful next steps. This isn’t about choosing what looks good on paper, it’s about helping students move forward with purpose.
Why This Matters
The pressure is real.
The support should be too.
Students are burned out. Families are overwhelmed. The system pushes prestige over purpose, and somewhere in the chaos, students lose sight of what they actually want. From an early age, they’re flooded with messages that their worth depends on achievement, selectivity, and status. Many begin to believe that their future hinges on getting into the “right” college, even if it means sacrificing their mental health, identity, or sense of joy.
At the same time, families and educators bring our own stories into the room. We carry memories of how success was defined for us, the paths we took or didn’t take, and the fears we hold about what students might miss.
Forget the Rankings and Pathways Forward are about taking that power back. These tools help students define success on their own terms and give educators a way to center well-being, values, and growth in every conversation. When students feel seen and supported for who they are, not just for what they achieve, it opens the door to something more meaningful.

The Human League
More than a movement. A reminder that you matter.
The Human League is the storytelling arm of Forget the Rankings. It’s where we share real voices, amplify honest experiences, and challenge the myth that worth comes from status.
The name nods to a world obsessed with exclusivity, but we’re building something different, something grounded in connection, courage, and truth.
Whether you're a student, an educator, or someone who wants to help shift the narrative, this is your place. Because the most powerful thing we can do is tell the truth about what it means to be human.
